HEALTH

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,

do all to the glory of God." - 1 Corinthians 10:31

It was a chance encounter at a health fair while Freddie was in his early thirties that alerted him to his high blood pressure. Sadly, one out of every three African American males will be given this same diagnosis this year. According to the American Heart Association, the prevelance of high blood pressure in African Americans is the highest in the world.

A diagnosis of high blood pressure is ultimately a signal of other illnesses often associated with this issue including heart disease, diabetes, kidney failure, and congestive heart failure among many others.

While always very conscious of his health condition and keeping his health in check by eating right and adhering to medical regimines, it was in his early Sixties when he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure that he took a keen interest in not only heart health, but the prevention of chronic illnesses in African American men.

With this in mind, The Freddie McNeil Project will promote health awareness activities for all populations, but specifically target African American males so that it can assist in minimizing the health disparties in the African American male population.
